Preparations Before Your Notary Appointment

Signer Requirements

• Present, coherent, and willing. The signer must personally appear, be mentally aware, and agree to sign.

• Valid ID. A current, government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, state ID, U.S. passport) is required.

• No duress. The signer must not be pressured or coerced.

Before You Book – Quick Checklist

• Review your document to count how many signatures need notarization.

• Confirm whether the document (e.g., Power of Attorney) requires additional non-notary witnesses—and arrange for them to attend.

• Ensure all signers (and any required witnesses) will be present with proper ID.

• Have your document complete and ready (do not sign until instructed, if required by the document type).
